Timing for Sagrada Familia and Park Guell

Can anyone tell me how long I should block out to tour Sagrada Familia? Park Guell? It’s difficult for me to buy advance tickets for some of the sites when I don’t know how long I will likely spend at each of them. Thank you

There is no universal set time limit. But I'd book one or the another for the earliest entry or latest entry and avoid arriving between 10am and 3pm. So if it is hot outside tour Parc Guell as early or late as possible

When? You got good advice if it's summer. A Forum tip I followed was in mid-July about 5 years ago. We got to the park just as it was opening (lovely and still somewhat cool in the wooded approach) and about 90 minutes was ample- by then big groups were arriving and it was starting to get warmer.
Then we walked downhill for Sagrada- I can't remember how long that took because I think we did something along the way.
So spectacular, both!

Thank you for responding. My plans aren’t set as of yet. Was originally looking to do this in the late April/early May timeframe, but felt it was too hard to avoid all the festivals going on in that timeframe in the many locations we’d be visiting, so I now am setting my sights on late September/early October.

RJ Wolters, are you aware that some of those festivals— especially those related to heritage —are the highlights of many visitors? I am mentioning this because perhaps you have an inaccurate idea about them and you might be missing something you might regret :) Can I be of assistance in providing you with background information on any specific heritage festival you may have been trying to avoid?

We visited Barcelona April 2024. I bought advanced tickets for La Sagrada Familia for the 1st time slot at 9 am. We spent 90 minutes there and quite a few tour groups were entering as we were leaving. We then took a taxi to Parc Guell and got there for 11:00 . We spent about 2 hours there which was sufficient.

I just want to add a totally useless comment and say, I've been all over the place, and the inside of La Sagrada Familia is one of the best things I've ever seen. Specifically the inside, not the outside. We went in the afternoon, when the sun was streaming in through the orange stained-glass windows. They're orange on one side, blue on the other (morning) side. The inside of that place, all of it, is one of the greatest works of art and architecture I've ever seen.

That is all. I just had to say it.

We just did this. Booked Park Guell for first thing in the morning (9:30). You will want to get to the fountain for pictures first thing because we did that last and it was mobbed. We booked a tour at Familia Sagrada for 1:30. Had enough time to tour the park on our own, walk down to the Sagrada and eat lunch along the way (the restaurants along the way are very expensive). Got there just in time. Might consider 2:00 tour if you don't walk fast. We stayed in the Eixample area, so after those two experiences and walking (and considering the heat) it was easy to hop on the metro right at the Sagrada. Highly recommend the guided tour with one of the towers. You can stay as long as you want after the tour.

We did this:
** Sagrada Familia at opening
** walk to, and visit, Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau
** lunch near Sant Pau
** bus to Parc Guell

It was a great day!
