Time from Chamartin to Airport?

I am going to book a train ticket in the next day or so for travel on April 21 but thought I would check with this forum on timing in order to reach my flight at Madrid airport. My tentative plans are to arrive at Chamartin train station at 2:30 pm and my Vueling flight leaves Terminal 4 at 4:15 pm. Does this give me enough time to catch my flight? The light rail to the airport says it is an 11 minute trip, but I am unsure how much walking time will be needed to catch the train and then get to the terminal.

Also, do you know if taking the Cercanias train to the Airport requires changing to metro line 8 at Nueovs Ministerios Station? I am seeing conflicting information. If so, maybe a taxi would be quicker?
Thanks.

If you get to the station at 2:30, you'd be catching the 3:00 p.m. train and getting to Terminal 4 about 3:15, which is probably the very minimum allowed check-in time. I don't have much knowledge of that airport but would want to be on the train no later than 2:00 p.m. Check out lunch options in the airport if you go earlier.

The Cercanias train schedule is online, but I didn't notice tickets for sale there. Chamartin station is easy to navigate, so the main thing that might take time would be stopping to buy a ticket. Where did you see an indication of changing to Metro?

Hi Laura,
Yes, thank you . I will book an earlier train so as not to have to rush. I am glad I heard from you.

The conflicting information is on the Rail Europe page under the Madrid Chamartin Train Station which says a transfer to Metro Line 8 is required, here :

Many thanks again.

That link from Rail Europe looks outdated. The direct train to both Chamartin and Atocha started a couple of years ago.
