This appears to be a fabulous piece of architecture, and we’d love to see it, but despite all efforts I can’t seem to find where to buy tickets... does anyone know how to do this?

Yes I have -...a number of times :)
Have a peek anyway and here for some details.
Long story short: Nuñez y Navarro -a giant promoter here in Barcelona- bought the building and after a two-year restoration project, in 2014, it was open for visits in the likes of Casa Batlló or Casa Milà in the same street. Here steps in Health and Safety and the Catalan Government's regulations for equality, saying they need to adapt the main stairwell for disabled visitors... easy peasy, not a very complex work to comply with this. But then, a different government department also steps in indicating this is a Modernista building and like all buildings considered artistic heritage, works in the façades and inside the building are severely restricted by a very strict code. So the permit for adapting the stairwell -which is considered a work of art- wasn't given... hence the building could not continue to operate as a public building. Now it is supposed to be re-used as a high-end office building.
