Thinking of Malaga to Fez Morocco

I know this is sort of half Europe/ Morocco questions, but I get good answers here.
We have 2 nights, that we could fly from AGP to Fez Morocco, great price , great flight times.
probably stay at a Riad, they look awesome.
Just wondering if anyone has done this , and has some info we could use. only on fez pls, no extra time in the area

The ultimate tour of Spain to Moorish cities such as Malaga, Zaragoza, Toledo. Seville, Cordoba Granada,
—to name a few—- is appreciated so much more by visiting Morocco. Fez and Marrakech are both magnificent time-capsule cities with Fez being the spiritual capital of Morocco.
By any & all means, visit Fez.
Staying in a Riad will be perfect. Just don’t stay in one too beautiful because you just might skip seeing Fez.

I have booked at Riad Mazar,
would you suggest that we just walk around the Madina, or should we take a walking tour?
We are only there for 1 and 1/2 full days,( 2 nights)
Thanks

Wander, and poke around, on your own! No need for a tour.

I have no idea what the situation is like in Morocco now, but at the time of my trip (early 1990s), tourists were heavily pestered by young men and teenagers who wanted to be their guides. It happened enough to be really annoying, though one assumed the cause was economic desperation. One way to avoid that phenomenon was to take some sort of a tour or simply go ahead and hire one of the young men. It would be good to hear from someone who has been to Morocco much more recently than I have, because it's quite possible things have changed.

Morocco is a very interesting country. It was frustrating not to be able to carry on a conversation with one's travel companion because of the constant interruptions, but I'd like to return nonetheless.
