Things to Pre-book in Spain?

Hi -- 3-week trip to Spain March-April. The usual - Cordoba>>Sevilla>>(assorted Hill Towns)>>Granada>>Toledo>>Madrid>>Barcelona.
I know about pre-booking trains. I'm worried about sights, and I hate waiting in line. I've booked the Alhambra. But I'm not sure about what else to pre-book. And if there are museum passes that are worth it in which cities (some cities in my travels have museum cards that are pretty worthless.) Oh -- and I did the Real Alcazar in Sevilla online - snagged an old-lady ticket for 2E. Then the downloaded reservation says I have to go to the ticket office to show old-lady id. Seems like maybe that throws me back into a regular ticket line. Thinking about booking another, on regular admission (9,50E).
All suggestions welcome -- this forum has been awesome for me on other trips in the past. Enric - are you there?

Hi Theresa,
Perhaps we will be in Barcelona at the same time! We're there April 9, 10, 11. I'm prebooking these: Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, Casa Batllo and Casa Mila. I also prebooked a free Runner Bean walking tour. Enric has been super helpful for me as far as the order of attractions.

I'm a big fan of museum passes/city passes but I'm not getting one for Barcelona because it's a limited card, good mostly for art museums I'm not visiting. Here's a link to that card, though: http://www.articketbcn.org

I really think you are fine with tickets to
Granada - The Alhambra
Barcelona - Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Palau de la Musica Catalana, Picasso Museum
(I think the cost of admission to both Casa Mila and Casa Batllo keeps the queues in check)

If you have a reservation, you will have to collect your ticket with or without ID. There's likely to be a separate line for picking up tickets, separate from the purchasing line. Most, if not all, sights that offer senior discounts and sell tickets online will allow you to purchase them with the discount.

I will be there in March as well!

Aside from museums, it might be cool to book tickets to a football match. Real Madrid and Barcelona FC are the biggies but Sevilla has a pretty good team, too!

So what I'm hearing other than the Alhambra (which I already booked), the other places are in Barcelona, which I will work on. (And I've booked some Context Travel tours in Barcelona - I love Context tours). Anything anywhere else I really should pre-book? Madrid must-pre-books? Sevilla? (I'll be in Sevilla from the Friday before Palm Sunday through Monday in Santa Semana.) Anything I should worry about prebooking there? Thanks!

It's probably going to be crowded in Sevilla then, so if you want to see a flamenco performance, buy tickets for that too. I recommend La Casa de Flamenco, strictly performance, not touristy (no drinks, no food), and it's a nice patio venue.

You may want to book train tickets to/from Toledo in advance as they sell out. You could do that after you get to Spain, especially if you are planning to buy the Tarjeta Dorada and get the 25% discount.

PS - we shall be as ships in the night, I arrive in Malaga that Friday and continue to Sevilla on Tuesday morning :-)

Thanks Chani, for the tip about Casa de Flamenco -- I just booked a show there. And thanks to the rest of you. I'll work on several of your suggestions -- they were nearly unanimous.

HI Theresa et all,
I am going to Nerja, in Costa de Sol/southern Spain for my 5th time in mid March. I am going to book tickets for Alhambra - i wondered, did you book your tickets through Ticketmaster.es? I went to the main palace in 2009 and funny thing - our friend bought the tickets last time and thought we could only go through the buildings so we missed the garden all together. However it worked out as we caught a fiesta in Granada in the afternoon and then had a picnic supper in an olive field overlooking the city. This time i am bringing my paints and am looking forward to sketching some of the surrounding gardens.

Hi Theresa,

Just saw your post, it went under my radar, sorry. There are already plenty of useful responses here. If anything I'd strongly suggest you make a bucket list for your visit to Barcelona -as I always insist, you guys are never long enough to see nothing but a small sample of the 'stuff' that the city has to offer, so trying to answer a generic question like yours above would result in a potentially long list, lol! It's best if you make up your list and then I'll happily point out which ones I would pre-book. Yet, others have already mentioned a handful: Park Güell, Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà...

Hi earlad -- sorry I failed to answer you. Yes, I did get my reservation through Ticketmaster. Just went to the Alhambra website, and that's where it sent me. Have a nice time in Spain. Theresa
