Things to do in or near Madrid on 1 January

Trying so hard to plan my day. I have a half-baked plan to go to a Hammam, but it is a bit logistically difficult with my teenager, who isn't interested. Wondering if there is any point in a day trip to Segovia or Toledo that day, or if everything will be closed? Would restaurants be open?

Both cities are attractive options for just walking around. The aqueduct is outside, so seeing it on a holiday should be fine. (There may be some sort of indoor exhibition; that could well be closed.) If there are specific indoor sights you might be interested in, you can check their websites to see what they say about being open or closed on January 1.

The Toledo Cathedral is closed on New Year's Day, which doesn't make me terribly confident about other places. The El Greco Museum in Toledo is also closed.

Retiro Park in Madrid will of course be open.
