Things to do in Madrid

Hi all,

We are arriving into Madrid around 2pm on Saturday from FL, USA.. We are staying at the Petit Palace Savoy Alfonso XII next to the Ritero Park. What can we do that evening provided the kids are willing.. We will be there end of November so will the park be chilly to venture out? my kids are 8 and almost 11. Thank you!

Hi, if the park is too cold for a stroll, you can try to visit some of the lovely Christmas Markets around Madrid. I think people only equate Christmas Markets to Germany, but in Spain we have quite the tradition of them. The most famous Christmas Market is in the Plaza Mayor , it's also the oldest at more than 200 years old. There you can buy traditional sweets for the kids, knickknacks, that kind of thing. I think it starts around late November.

You are also close to the Naval and Archaeological museums, which I think are some of the best yet unsung museums in Madrid. They both have some exhibitions more centered for kids too.

I recall that one of our other posters (Chani) also liked the Naval Museum and mentioned that you need your passports to enter. I haven't checked its hours and don't know how late it is open.
