The Costa Brava in February

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are flying into Barcelona in February. We will be renting a car and spending the first two nights near Montserrat so that we can hike and then will be touring the Costa Brava for 6 days. We have are planning on spending 3 nights in Begur and are considering Cadaques for the second half of our time.

1) I am wondering if Cadaques will be too quiet in February to merit time set aside there when our time in the country is so short?
2) I am also thinking about Girona because it will probably have more going on but normally do not stay in cities (I prefer the small towns in the country). I do know that sometimes small tourist towns in the off season are ghost towns.
3) Anyone know of an opportunity to go truffle hunting with a local in February?
4) Are there any local festivals / food events in the Costa Brava in February?
5) I am also open to an alternative itinerary for our long week in Catalonia. My favorite thing to do is to learn about local culture and get off the beaten track. I do speak Spanish fluently so that allows for more opportunities to explore.

Thank you!
