How far in advance can one purchase tickets for a September visit to The Alhambra?
Thanks!
In my experience it is not exact, but somewhere around 3 months out. I'd check in May, but it probably won't be up yet. Check more often from June into July.
I bought late May in mid- February. All of May was up but not June at that time
I bought my tickets for late April on January 22. I was checking before then and it wasn't open yet. Hope this helps!
I just bought for the end of July. I wasn't expecting it to be open til the end of the month but just happened to check.
We stayed at Puerta de las Granada which is walking distance and the hotel got us tickets.
Great hotel and location.
It was a nominal price difference than buying them ourselves but they were able to get us earlier time slot tickets.
We were able to get them in July for September but we had to check frequently. And when they did become available for some reason the only way we could purchase them was from the computer at my husband's office; none of the computers in our house (Apple and PC) were able to complete the purchase. No idea why but persevere! Buy the first entrance time of the day - it's magical in the early morning.
I too am visiting the Alhambra this September. I searched other posts on the subject and found one titled "Buying tickets to Alhambra, Granada" from 2015. Same general question. One of the responses listed the website address for ticketmaster help (http://ayuda.ticketmaster.es/). After switching to English, I typed "Alhambra September 2016" and clicked on "Ask". I didn't see any response until I clicked on "Purchase new available dates for Alhambra" under results. Response was "Tickets for visit Alhambra on September 2016 will go on sale on Monday, June 6th from 10am." So in two days, I'll see if this information is correct. Hope this helps!
We're booking this week for an August day (45 days out). When I checked yesterday the official site (mentioned in Rick Steve guidebook) showed they still were not fully book for July or August.
My question for any experts: I realize it will be hot in August so am tempted to book early in the day, but Rick says the "light" is better in the afternoon. We want to photograph our visit. Has anyone experienced the Alhambra in the afternoon in summer (August) or would morning be better for picture taking? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Solar noon in Granada in August is about 2.15-2.20 p.m. So presumably the sun is at the same angle (different direction) at 10 a.m. and at 6.30 p.m. Sunset's around 9 p.m. My guess is that it will is little cooler (less hot) early in the morning than late in the afternoon.
