Taxis and park guell entrance

Primarily plan to walk and use metro but for time maintenance will be using taxis occasionally. Will we have trouble finding a taxi for 6 adults? Would it be more cost effective to hail 2 taxis or will it be cheaper to use one larger taxi (plan to use MyTaxi if people think we can't hail larger vehicle). Most important question...,..if we take taxi to Park Guell, which entrance should we have taxi drop us off at to do an early morning timed entrance(already have ticket) into the monumental core? Thank you.

There is a bus to Park Guell. Also a metro stop about four blocks from Park Guell. Your hotel should be able to give you better details.

There are plenty of mini-van taxis in Barcelona... but there seem to be never one around to hail when you need them, LOL! Remember taxis in Barcelona are always black and yellow -like the picture above- regardless of the company and the fares are all the same (by Law) across the 11000+ taxis in the metro area.

Calling up a cab to your location is an option of course. A mini-van taxi has an extra charge of 3.10-€ which is always much cheaper than hailing two taxis -that basically, doubles the cost. Note that extra charges are added at the end of the fare, when the driver punches a code in the computer and add whatever charges apply. Here are the charges that can be added (and when these apply): http://bit.ly/BCNtaxi2018 When calling up a cab to a location (ie. phone), they will arrive with their meter already on -albeit it can't display more than the minimum fare.

For convenience, I would ask the taxi to drop you off at the east gate, in Carretera del Carmel. It's NOT the main entrance but it's more convenient since you will then go downhill inside the park and not uphill. Furthermore, it's not "as crowded"

Still.... I would probably take the bus to get there (#24, also stopping in the east gate), or if time is of the essence, the metro (L3 green to Vallcarca then a 15' walk to the park)... it's faster than anything travelling above ground.

Enjoy!
