Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew how easy and what the cost is for a taxi from Madrid airport to the Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes train station to go to Cordoba. We land in the morning and I see that a prearranged shuttle would be €50. Just wondering if we’re better off waiting until we get there to find a taxi thanks.
A taxi is easy, there are designated taxi ranks, and the cost should be around 35 euro. There are also direct buses for 5 or 6 euro.
For what it's worth, the Cercanias commuter train is free if you have your Renfe (Madrid-Cordoba)
ticket in hand. Just scan the QR code on the ticket and the turnstile should allow you through.
The C1 line goes from the airport to Chamartin station, and from there any of the other lines
will take you to Atocha.
As always, you need to leave enough time between flight arrival and train departure to allow
for unforeseen events, no matter what mode of transport you decide to take.
There is a train station at the Madrid airport. You can take the C1 or C10 Cercanías train from Terminal four, for about 3 euro. We found it to be extremely easy and cost effective.
Here is a link from the Madrid airport website which lists options:

And, yes, as shoeflyer says above, Ceranias tickets are generally free with a AVE or other trains. (We found they are not free if the ticket is purchased thru trainline)
Thank you all! Seems like there are several ways to get there. I am giving 3 hours from arrival to get to our train-I hope that’s enough!
I think 3 hours might be a little tight. I would check the price difference between day of purchase train tickets vs. advance tickets. Planes can be cancelled, delayed, and customs lines can vary.
We went to Sevilla via AVE upon arrival to the Madrid airport and purchased the tickets at the airport
If you opt for the train to Atocha, verify what terminal you arrive at, the train only serves Terminal 4, not Terminal 1/2/3, and the two areas are not that close together. For T 1/2/3. taxi or bus is the most direct, the Metro is another option, but requires a couple changes.
Thank you all! This is such great information!
It was 32 euro last spring. Flat rate. No tip necessary and includes luggage.
As described in the airport link, there is a very easy to use shuttle bus between the airport terminals.
