we will be taking a taxi to Barcelona airport tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. And I understand there are higher fares before 8 am. We are staying vey close to the Barceloneta metro ( we do not want to take metro to Airport). Does anyone have any idea of how much to expect for a taxi fare from that area of Barcelona to airport at that hour? Trying to decide whether or not to get more euros as I would like to avoid one more transaction. Thank you in advance!
Hi isabelle, it's good that you don't want to take the metro to the airport... because there isn't any :)... you can reach the airport by bus, train or taxi.
Frankly, 7-9am is rush hour so it might well be something around 40-50€ or if you get caught in "one of those days", even more. It's a bit unpredictable though because I go to the airport fairly often at that time and sometimes the journey is a breeze and sometimes a nightmare.
Where exactly in La Barceloneta are you staying? I'm asking because not so far you have the train station of Estació de França: http://bit.ly/1Jt2IqH From there you have trains to the airport every 30' which you can take using the T-10 travel card (so the journey is less than 1€!) or if not, single ticket is 4.10€ Note though you have to transfer in Sants station. The whole journey is (normally) less than 45' - say 60' since you probably don't know your bearings :))

PS. Yes, it's perfectly safe at that hour.
Thank you for your reply. We were staying in an apartment very close to the Barceloneta metro stop. At 7:15 am, we walked out of the apartment and immediately were able to stop a taxi. The ride to the airport at that time in the morning cost us 31 euros including three bags, a very reasonable fare. There was minimal traffic and the ride was about 20 minutes. just thought I'd share that experience in case others were planning airport transportation from that area of Barcelona, etc.
Glad you didn't catch any traffic :)
