Tarifa to Barcelona Fast--How?

Hi

My wife and I are planning a trip next spring (late March) that will include a few nights in Tarifa (whales, Gibraltar, Tangier), followed by Barcelona, which we want to get to quickly after departing Tarifa--no 'smelling the roses" along the way. As I look at the situation, I realize that this will likely involve a bus (or taxi?, or ???) to get to either Malaga or Sevilla, followed by a flight or MAYBE the AVE train. Is the train feasible given the (assumed) difficulty/time-consumption of getting to Malaga or Sevilla from Tarifa by departing early in the early AM or is a flight the preferred option? I especially wonder about the reliability of bus service.

Thanks in advance for any help y'all give.

I have a suggestion for you: Instead of ferrying from Tarifa to Tangier (which I assume is your plan), check skyscanner.com for flights to Fes or Marrakech from feasible Spanish gateway cities. Believe me, Tangier is really not a good place to go, whereas Fes and Marrakech (and other Moroccan cities) are fascinating.

I realize this doesn't address the Gibraltar issue, but I seriously doubt that Gibraltar can compare to Morocco (Tangier aside).

You can also fly nonstop from various Moroccan cities to Barcelona, including from Tangier on Vueling/Iberia.
