Tapas Tour and Flamenco Performance

Hi,
My family-2 adults, 2 adolescent boys, will be in Barcelona the last week in June for 3 full days.
I’d like to make it as memorable as possible for the adults and the kids we drag with us. I’m thinking that it would be awesome to
1. Participate in a tapas tour. Maybe just adults?

2. Flamenco performance.
Thanks, in advanced, for your time and advice.

I hope someone can give specific recommendations (I cannot), but on your question "Maybe just adults?", I think your boys will much prefer a tapas tour where they can enjoy the eats and drinks, than they will a flamenco show which is, frankly, a lot of ridiculous "dancing", dull guitar music and all interspersed with someone shrieking for no obvious reason.

Don't be alarmed by Nick's sense of English humor, I'm sure deep down he's a big fan of Flamenco ;)

I should mention that Flamenco is not originally native to Barcelona and Catalonia, although Barcelona has produced some famous and talented Flamenco dancers. When done well, Flamenco can be a passionate and exhilarating experience. I have not been to any performances in Barcelona itself (only in Andalucia), but I would be wary of any with the Flamenco/dinner combinations, as those are usually overpriced tourist traps.

You could also look for performances of the Sardana dance and Castellers when you are in Barcelona, these are our more traditional Catalan performances.

In 2014 we spent 3 days post-Med. cruise in Barcelona. On our 1st night we (3 adults, 2 19 yr olds & 1 13 yr. old boy) did a tapas tour with The Barcelona Taste. We still talk about the great time we had, food & drinks were delicious! It was our group of 6 & a couple from Australia. We had 2 guides. I remember that both guides really took the time to interact with each person on the tour. My 13 yr. old son had a great time talking soccer w/one of the guides. He also tried foods I never thought he would (picky eater). I would be sure to take your kids on the tapas tour & do it early in your visit so you can go back to the places you really liked. I've recommended this tour to a few others since then & both have really enjoyed it.

Our friend wanted to do a flamenco show/dinner. No one else had any interest (& it's not cheap!) so only I went with her. Can't remember where we went, but it was right on Las Ramblas. Food was meh & flamenco wasn't really my thing. The rest of the group still talks about the meal they had while we were at the flamenco show & I'm sorry I missed that!

Hope that helps! Enjoy!
