Myself and my husband are looking for a tapas tour in Madrid that will teach us how to order tapas. We are coming from Barcelona, and we are not taking a tapas tour there because it seems ordering tapas is not as difficult there, as you can go into many of the bars and simply point at what you would like? Is this correct? I would prefer a tour that is closer to Hotel Europa. Any suggestions? Or maybe I am misinformed and should just do the tapas tour in Barcelona at the beginning of our vacation?

For a food tour in Madrid, I would recommend Devour: https://madridfoodtour.com/. They have several tour options. The Tapas like a local tour leaves just a block from the Hotel Europa. Devour also does tours in other parts of Spain, each of them different, reflecting the local food and wine scene. These are small group tours, ours last year had 8 people and you go to local tapas places, speciality shops, and learn about the history of Madrid along the way. Our guide is a foodie and connected us with some great new places that had just opened up, including one she went to for her birthday. We had such a wonderful time with the Devour tours, we took the one in Granada as well.
Devour also has a tour in Barcelona if you prefer to start there. You will learn about the customs surrounding tapas, including how to order them, but you will have different food. Here is the link to the Barcelona tour: https://devourbarcelonafoodtours.com/.
