Three nights in Barcelona beginning tomorrow.
Where to go for great tapas ? We are staying in Born area. Many thanks, in advance!
Robert
So, there's this show on PBS called "I'll Have What Phil's Having". He was in Barcelona on a quest for the best tapas. Watch if you can, but at least take a look at the links to the restaurants he went to. We're going in May, and we're drooling already!
Also, check out this thread from LTH Forum, a Chicago-based foodie site. You can search the site for other threads on Barcelona.
Not tapas, but set lunches are discussed in this article from the Guardian. BTW, the Guardian has a great travel section, and a great food section, too.
Hi Robert - we were in Barcelona in early November 2 years ago, and went to Tickets (www.ticketsbar.es), but had made reservations several weeks in advance, as it's extremely popular. One of the principals is the brother of renowned chef Ferran Adrià, and the tapas are on another level above ordinary.
Thought I'd throw this in, although 2 or 3 days notice might not be enough to get in. ¡Buen apetito!
Tickets requires minimum 2 months in advance :((
Near the Picasso Museum you will find Tapeo.
Small. so get there earlier. Amazing food. Great people. Fantastic prices.

Maybe too late, but my favorite is a place call Xampanyet, Carrer de Montcada, 22, 08003 Barcelona.
It's not fancy but I felt it was authentic. I liked the atmosphere and prices better than most places we tried, which were either very chic bars or chain restaurants.
Yes, Carrer de Montcada is a hot spot for tapas.
I'm wasn't a big tapas fan. It all tastes same. I even tried Xampanyet that someone recommended. So-so. Then I discovered Basque style tapas in Barcelona. I very highly recommend Irati Taverna Basca.
smithee, sounds like you had too many peppers stuffed with tuna, and similar.
I've been watching this thread for my upcoming week in Barcelona (March). I just looked at Irati's website and found it's the same as Orio (across the street from the Santa Caterina market). I went to Orio on a tapas tour and it was so good I went back. At Orio, there's plenty of seating (stools at long tables). At the bottom of the website there are links to several other places . . .
