Tapas and old town walking tour in Madrid.

Hello friends,

We are traveling to Madrid between Oct 20th and Oct 24th. We are great foodies and always prefer to explore old towns like locals. Can anyone suggest an authentic walking tour of old town including Tapas. Or even some great tapas joints that are local favorites.

Thanks in advance.

Try a stroll down Calle Cava Baja, just south of the Plaza Major or the streets around Plaza Santa Ana. Both of these areas have many excellent tapas opportunities.

Thanks Jack.

Would you recommend any particular Tapas place ( by name ) or type of food ?

The San Miguel Market in Madrid is a great place for tapas - walk around all the stalls and decide what appeals, same with drinks.

No, I wouldn't recommend any particular place in either of these areas. One of the joys of tapas is to just move from place to place and try their speciality. Going to the San Miguel Mercado is a time saver, but it is just not the same experience.
