Tapa Bars in barcelona

We will be in Barcelona mid November and would like to go to a few Tapa Bars where the locals go and not so much for the Tourist. We will be in the area near the Sagrata Familia and and suggestions for restaurants in the $ or $$ cost range

I took a Tapas Tour that we booked through Viator that was excellent, we went to three different Tapas bars and at each one the guide taught us about the history of Spanish cuisine. At the end of the evening we had drinks at a Flamenco bar and enjoyed watching the dancers. Great evening in Barcelona that was enjoyed by all. Just google Viator tours and select Barcelona.

Most locals won't venture too close to the Sagrada Família, the tapas bars/restaurants near there have become very touristy over the last 20 years. However if you are willing to venture out 4-5 blocks away from the Sagrada Família there are a few good ones close by.

When I used to live near by, I went to Restaurant Azul on Carrer de Còrsega quite a few times, and go back whenever I am back in Barcelona. This restaurant focuses on a more hardy inland/mountain cuisine. The food at this restaurant is very good, honest and quite tasty. You will only find locals here, however communication may be a problem as they do not speak any English and the menus will only be in Catalan/Spanish. Order from the "Menu del Dia" during lunch, for a high quality regional/seasonal menu at an amazing price!

In El Born, there is a pretty good tapas bar called Bar Celta Pulperia, that specialises in Galician Octopus (Pulpo a la Gallega). Personally my favorite tapa they have is called Pimientos de Padron, which is another Galician treat. Bar Celta has two locations, in the Gothic Quarter and one in El Born. There will probably be some tourists but also a good amount of locals too.

We liked Cerveceria Catalana in the Eixample district. It can get busy but it’s worth the wait. They had a nice selection of tapas, pintxos, and seafood dishes. Yes, there were tourists like us but it looked like it had a local following too.
