Hi RS readers,
I’m in Spain and was planning on doing a day trip excursion to Tangier tomorrow. Having trouble connecting with the ferry lines online. It looks like all ferry’s are cancelled tomorrow.. there are high winds in the area. Can anyone confirm there are no ferries??
Thanks!
FRS's most recent tweets in Spanish and French say that due to meteorological conditions, the Tarifa port is closed until further notice. This website seems to confirm. Looks like the Algeciras - Tangier Med crossing is open though, unless I'm missing something!
The winds can be quite treacherous in that part of the straights, I'm not surprised if they cancelled the ferry lines for the day, this kind of thing is not uncommon. As my old man would say (roughly translated into English) "You never know when they are doing you a favor" i.e. not going to Tangier.
Most travelers on this forum suggest not doing a day trip to Tangier, to review those recent posts (last few months), use the Search box at top of this window. So maybe the weather is doing you a favor.
Fly to Fes instead; stay a week and come back with a better impression of Morocco.
Take a bus (or train) side-trip in Spain. If you tell us where you are, we can probably make suggestions. Alternatively, ask your hotel desk staff or the local tourist office
Thanks all. I’m in La Linea after spending the day in Gibralter. Will just take the extra time not going to Tangier and use it in Costa del Sol and Granada which are my next two destinations.
Thanks!
