Tangier or not?

It’s hard to get a consensus on whether or not a day trip to tangier is worth it. Many on this forum say no, but Rick in the guidebook says yes definitely even though it can feel a little touristy.

It seems like a 3 day operation just for a few hours in Morocco. But it still seems tempting. Has anyone booked one of the guides listed in Rick’s book?

It’s a totally different country, with a different culture, food, dress, and customs and quite unlike anything you will see in Europe. If a day is all you have, I would say go - you may like it and decide to return in the future.

Ultimately, you must weigh the responses and make a decision.

I vote "No". What many sources fail to mention is that there are flights to much more interesting Moroccan cities (like Fes and Marrakech) from many places in Europe. You don't have to spend the better part of three precious days on a trip to Spain to squeeze in mere hours in a touristy port city. Just plan to fly to Morocco for at least a few days on a future trip and use your time this year in Spain. Do you have a decent amount of time allocated to the Spanish cities you're visiting? Many of the itineraries posted on this forum look like mad dashes to me.

No, because Morocco deserved its own trip, visit great places like Agidar, Marrakesh, Fes and more. Tangier doesn't deserve a deviation to see.
