Supermarkets on New Year’s Day

I’m going to be arriving in Malaga on New Year’s Eve . I’ll be staying in the El Palo district. Does anyone know if the supersol will be open ,can’t seem to find anything on web site . If not ...is there anyplace I can find a few staples to get me through to the 2nd . I’ve read that gas stations carry some supplies ,are they open on New Year’s Day ?

Does your hotel provide breakfast? If yes, fill up on January 1!

Maybe pack some granola bars in your baggage ?? For emergency use.
Sometimes main rail stations have grocery stores open 24/7.

Go to the contact link on the website and send them an email asking its hours for the dates you’ll be there.

Thanks for the info , I’m staying in a self catering place and I’m coming from the Malaga airport via taxi on New Year’s Eve , maybe I’ll get him to stop at a gas station :)

I noticed there is also a Mercadona grocery store in El Palo. You could send them an email too from its website.

Our experience with Seville on New Year's eve and day a couple years ago. Everything started closing early on NY eve (around 4 pm) and nothing was open on New Years Day. And that included bars and restaurants. We have a walking tour that day and the guide recommended strongly that we get to the grocery store by mid afternoon as they would be closing around 5pm and not open till the second. The only restaurants that we saw open on NY Day were those associated with a hotel and they were packed. I would assume that Malaga would be similar to Seville.

Thank you Frank , this is good info :) I stop in London before going on to Malaga ...think I’ll pick up a sandwich etc . Maybe I’ll ask my landlady to put a few things in the fridge ...if she will :) and I’ll pay her later . One thing I’ve learned from this is travel on the 2nd and before the 6th ,which is also a holiday

Thanks again, Christine

Very much doubt it, more likely small convenience stores may be open.
