Hello,
My boyfriend and I are looking to move to Spain from end of May until end of August. We are torn between two different areas where we want to concentrate our 3 month time. We are thinking just one area, because the rental leases only offer 3 month minimum pricing and Air B&B didn't offer as much of a monthly discount. I love the white hill towns and was curious more about Arcos de la Frontera, as Rick seems to think this is the best area for hill towns. Is it the "real feel" or too touristy? I also like it's closer proximity to a cultural city like Seville and maybe away from the overly touristy area of Costa del Sol. However, with it being summer, it would be nice to be within an hour of a beach. I was also considering a small village town near Competa. There it seems you have the proximity of mountains and sea. With all the rentals, it had me wondering if it was crawling with expats. We want an immersion experience where we can live like a local and work on our Spanish. Does anyone have any advice to steer us? I feel like I have been reading and researching, but some actual experience would seem best! We are age group 25-30. Thanks so much!
It will be hot in Seville (average highs of 96°F in July & August), maybe not so hot in the hill towns. You may want an air-conditioned place. I'm sure you'll get plenty of Schengen warnings, so I'll leave that to others.
