summer cocktails

as much as I love wine and beer, I love me a good cocktail. Are there any summer specific drinks that Spain is known for I shouldn’t miss? I know they have their own version of shandies, but there must be others. thanks for the 411!

Gintonicas are good. But I have to say the Tinto Verano is the most refreshing thing ever and just the thing after a long hot walk.

I can second all of the above.
Tinto Verano
vermut
GinTonic (always 1 word and served in a giant balloon glass)

Sangría is not popular all over Spain...in fact, I strongly believe that many places have it just because tourists ask for it, not because locals have it.

The Hugo is very popular and refreshing -- Prosecco spritz with mint and herbs. Started in Italy, but saw it on menus in Spain too.

Also Italian in origin, but the Aperol Spritz has really taken off all over Europe, popular in Spain as well. Also not Spanish in origin, but due to their love of Gin and the presence of Brits, you will find Pimms many places, usually made into a punch.

I will add to the chorus that touts vermouth, really a treat in Spain, especially if all you know are the brands usually available in the US. Usually just served straight up on ice, but some places offer drinks based on vermouth, or with a spritz of soda.

In the Basque Country, and getting popular in other places too, lots of people enjoy a "kalimotxo", which is a large cider type glass with 50% red wine and 50% Coke, with ice and a lemon peel. We do not drink much Coke and it´s more expensive than wine, but this is very popular during festivals or in summer time.

Don't get larger, just get another round. The larger serving won't stay as cold.

Not alcoholic, but I love a 'cortado con hileo', a short espresso with equal part milk, which will be served in a coffee cup, with a glass of ice for you to pour it over.

Mikel- Are adults drinking kalimocho? When I lived in Barcelona that was exclusively for kids at the bouillon.
