In October 2016 we are planning on a do it your trip to Spain and Portugal for 4 weeks. We don't even know where to begin and are hoping some of you would be able to share your experiences with us to plan our trip.. We plan to rent apartments through VRBO and rent a car. So staying in one location for a week or so would be perfect. We do not want to stay in big cities but would like areas where it's convenient to take a train into the city. Last year we spent 3 weeks in St. Ives and drove all over Cornwall and it was wonderful. We thought it was the perfect vacation visiting all those small villages. So if you've been to Cornwall you know the type of area we prefer. You help would be greatly appreciated.
