We will be based in Los Alcazares for 2 weeks with a rental car and interests in exploring history, arts, architecture, food etc.
We enjoy small towns and big cities, and would appreciate day trip and overnight recommendations between Granada and Valencia from others who have been there and are more familiar with the area than we are.

Los Alcazare is up to 3 hours drive from both Granada and Valencia, so not really ideal as a base from which to visit both of those places. Note that motorway tolls are quite steep in Spain.

Baeza and Ubeda are wonderful (twin) Renaissance towns classified by UNESCO.
