Suggestions for a 2 week itinerary to Andalucia

Hello, My husband and my 7 yr. old twins will be traveling to Andalucia in August. We are flying from New York into Malaga. We will be renting a car for the entire trip to make it easier on the kids.
I would appreciate some advice about the preliminary itinerary.
1. Malaga 3 nights
2. Seville 3 nights
3. Granada 2 nights
4.Malaga the remainder of the trip.

I would like to take day trips to the white town, Ronda, Alhambra, and maybe squeeze Cordoba to visit the Mezquita if time allows.
We will be booking lodging through Airbnb or booking.com.
Thanks for your help!

Is there a reason for so much time in Malaga? It's not really one of the key destinations in Andalucía.

The Alhambra is in Granada, so it won't require a day-trip.

You don't have enough nights allocated to Seville to cover day trips to Cordoba, Ronda and the white villages. They'll probably require three days.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I was thinking going back to Malaga because we are flying back from Malaga airport. Do you suggest spending more time in Seville and a couple of days in Malaga towards the end of the trip? Thank you!

I would try to combine all your Malaga nights together if possible to avoid moving around so much. Ronda as well as Nerja & the caves are easy day trips from Malaga. We even did Alhambra in Granada as a day trip from there which was enough for us. Malaga does have beach areas (so-so sand) & boat cruises which will be welcome in the August heat. More time should be allocated to Sevilla especially if you want a day trip to Cordoba.

I think you could definitely use more time in Seville, and an extra night in Granda would probably be good.

Stay on top of the ticket situation for the Alhambra. I don't think August tickets will be on sale for a while, but those things sell out, and the surest way to get your hands on them is to nail down at least that one aspect of your schedule so you can buy Alhambra tickets when they become available for your preferred date in August.

It will be very, very hot in Andalucía in August. Be sure both your rental car and your lodgings are air conditioned. Check lodging reviews very carefully; be sure you have data points from previous summer renters.

Because of the heat and the fact that you're traveling with children, I think you'll have a happier trip if there are pools available when you're not staying on the coast with beach access. Seville's average high temperature in August is 100F (the record is 117F); Malaga's is only 87F (but the record is 112F).

Don't skip Córdoba! The Mesquita Catedral is one of the world's treasures, a must see. Plus the town is an enjoyable place to visit.

6. Drive to Ronda (2N)
7. Day visiting pueblos blancos
8. Drive via Arcos de la Frontera to Seville (4N) ... Drop off rental car
9. Seville
10. Day by train to Cordoba for the Mezquita
11. Seville
12. Train (1hr 55min) to Malaga (3N)

Thank you all for the feedback and suggestions. Silly me, the travel date is in the beginning of July but I'm sure the weather will be the same. I appreciate any other thoughts or comments anyone else can share!
