Suances in Cantabria?

Hoping to get to Spain and Cantabria next May and put into action a trip that had to be put off this year. I was going to stay in Comillas for a few nights with the main goal of seeing several prehistoric caves during the day, and then come back at night for dinner and a drink. But now I’m looking at Suances and wondering if anyone has been/stayed there. Comillas has the Gaudi sites, which I’d be interested in seeing, but it’s further from the cave sites (and Santander if I can get there for a day/half-day). Wondering if Suances would be a nicer place to spend the night and get some good (but not pricey) dinners. I’m not actually making plans anytime soon but ready to go on vacation and thinking about this again. Thoughts about it or Comillas?

I stayed in Suances for several 'beach days' 8 years ago or so, it is a charming resort town with beautiful beaches and many restaurants. A good base for the area.

I didn’t find food to be very pricey in Cantabria, Galicia, or Asturias. On our last trip to that area in 2017 we stayed in Santillana del Mar. Suances should be a good base and less crowded with tourists than the more visited Santillana Del Mar. It’s only 11km (6.5 miles) from Altamira and if driving, traffic will be light.

Plenty of time yet, but make sure you book in advance as number of entries is limited and all visits are in Spanish. Comillas is a very nice place to stay, better than Suances in my opinion.
