Stopover between Evora and Seville?

Hi guys,
Going to Portugal with side trip to Seville next May. Will be spending 3 nights in Seville (driving) but have option of doing an extra night /part day on way down from Evora.
Have been looking at maybe Badajoz or Alange? But very unsure. Just want to experience some Spanish culture really!
Any advice would be great, thank you.'

I know nothing about Badajoz and Alange; haven't even heard of the latter. Your route also takes you past Merida, which has a Roman theatre, a Moorish fortress and quite a good archaeological museum. There are other Spanish cities that are, overall, more attractive from the pure wandering-around standpoint, but Merida's sights are definitely worthwhile, and the proximity to your route cannot be beat. Merida can be brutally hot by the time June rolls around, but the weather should be OK in May.

Thank you, I'll check our Merida. Alange is a town on the river Alange. It's small and not touristy but looked very cool to wander around and has some roman buildings and a medieval castle. I like going to non touristy places, esp after being in so many tourist hot spots!

Alange sounds interesting! I like out-of-the-way spots, too, but have limited opportunity to get to many of them since I don't rent cars in Europe.

This is the first time we've rented a car in Europe, we're usually in big cities and don't need one....we also didn't have children! I'm excited about having more freedom this trip, with being able to stop where and when we like, not to mention seeing some countryside.

It's not exactly on a direct line between Evora and Seville, but consider Marvao. My wife and I visited en route between Tomar and Evora in 2008 and Marvao was spectacular. Do an image search on Google, or look at some of the hotel listings on booking.com, and the photos. I have to make it back there for more than a day trip!

wow, Marveo looks beautiful. It's too far North for us this time though, trying to make our car trips shorter rather than longer, esp with 2 boys.
I also keep seeing SO much about Porto, but don't plan on going there and starting to feel like I'm missing out....but you can't see everything sadly.
