Staying at an airbnb in Andalucia

Thank you so much for the great information I received from my last post- I was wondering if anyone recommends or has had positive experiences staying at airbnb's in Sevilla, Cordoba, or Granada?

i love airbnb's and have stayed in many, but some new regulations make it harder to operate an airbnb in certain places. I just wanted to see if anyone has had a really great experience stayed in one in Andalucia- or if they prefer staying in a home of a local resident that didnt register with airbnb.

@Fran, that property looks incredible! Is the view as incredible in real life as in the pictures on Airbnb? I may just have to make a quick trip to Granada, just to stay there lol :)

Carlos,
The views were just as spectacular as in the pictures! Someone on the forum recommended it when we were planning our trip. We loved it!

@Fran - Time to book my tickets for Granada! 😎🏰

I bookmarked the apartment Fran listed above about 2 years ago, and found out through another forum poster that she stayed there and it was just as spectacular a view as shown in the pictures. Just this week we booked our flight and I made sure this apartment was available as it's the number one place we wanted to stay for our trip next year!

I'm not sure how many people you are traveling with..... Here are some other options that we (family of 5) booked last April:

Stayed here in Granada for six nights and LOVED it:
Genteel Home Penthouse Plaza Nueva
It is also listed on booking.com, but the listing is mixed in with other apartments in the building, and the negative reviews all seem to point to the other apartments. We had a fabulous stay with a great host and perfect facilities. The terrace, view, and location are to die for.

Stayed here in Sevilla and it was good. A little street noise in the front bedrooms, and an awkward 4th bedroom that could only be accessed through another bedroom. But clean, convenient, comfortable, fantastic location, and a good check in/check out process:
Homeaway LUXURY APARTMENT SEVILLA CENTRO

We did not travel to Cordoba for this trip.

More details on our accommodations and trip are in my trip report:

Have a great time!

I love this forum! Thanks Deb- I thought your recommedations were lovely but unfortunately out of our price range-My husband and I are traveling alone-we are a recent empty nest. We want to spend most of our money seeing the historic sites, going to Flamenco shows and on food. We are not sure yet whether we will rent a car.

Later today I will read your travel report-Again thanks for the input!!

Totally agree that the places I referenced would be too much for two people. We felt like they were a good bargain for the 5 of us.

You have what looks like some other lovely references in this thread. I’m sure you’ll find a great place!

Have a great time in Andalucía!

Thank you so much Donna and Denis but I could not pull up a specific Cordoba property with that link.

I'm so sorry. We've been having a lot of trouble with our internet connection, a downside of living in an RV. I couldn't check it to see if it was indeed still available. I tried another way, asking for the Airbnb number, and it appears that this listing is no longer available, in multiple languages. Too bad, because it had a killer location, was reasonably priced, and had an amazing host. In fact, we would have stayed there again if in the area.

We frequently use Airbnb for weekends away in Cordoba, Granada, Jaen, Sevilla and further afield. I have to say I have been very impressed with the standard of the accommodation every time we have been away. Obviously if you are staying just for weekends like we do, prices are more expensive than booking during weekdays and longer stays. We also did the same last summer when we visited the north of Spain, we stayed in a different place every night from San Sebastian to Gijón over a week. A great way to see different places all within a short space of time. I hope you enjoy your stay here in Spain. Regards, Richie

We loved our air bnb's in Andalucia. Our Seville host sent his son to the airport for a small fee to pick us up, which was great. Both had incredible views, the Granada one was ultra modern and giant glass windows, right on the Plaza Nueva:

Sevilla (had a great terrace, and washing machine, ice cold A/C):

Granada (booked with veoapartments):

And the best yet, although you didn't ask about Ronda, the view was beyond fabulous (we chose Ronda over Cordoba, and rented a car in Sevilla at the end of our stay, traveled to Ronda for 3 nights, then turned the car in up on arrival in Granada:

Thank you for your comment Ritchie! Where are you from in Spain? We are mainly going to Andalucia area and are very excited about this trip. I have been reading up on Spanish history. I would like to take a Flamenco dance class.

We loved Ronda. However, we chose it because we were intrigued by the "white hill towns" and wanted to rent a car and explore the area, whereas Cordoba is famous and beloved for its Mezquita, and you don't need a car to get there, as it's an easy train ride from Sevilla. So the choice is yours, but that gorge was fascinating, and the people were lovely all over Spain.

Thank you so much Joan! We are flying to Barcelona and I wonder what areain Barcelona recommend lodging in for several nights?

For a neighborhood to stay in Barcelona, I would recommend Gràcia, specifically the Vila de Gràcia area. It is the "cool" place to be now, with its co-working spaces and artist studios, but also feels very cozy and welcoming, something that is becoming hard to find in a big city like Barcelona. It is within walking distance to most of the Gaudí sites and has good access to public transportation.

Hi Leslie,

we will be in Granada in March-you have to book this early for the Alhambra?

Yes, you can book your tickets now.
The Alhambra is the highlight of Granada and one can book them up to three months in advance.

When my mom and I visited Granada, a few years ago, we encountered other travelers who hadn’t booked their Alhambra tickets in advance, and they were extremely disappointed because they could not get any tickets.

Enjoy your trip!

When I checked a few days ago, the Alhambra ticket website was showing limited ticket availability for pretty much the entire period currently on sale. I'm guessing that large numbers of tickets are purchased on the day of release by tour companies and local hotels, so it doesn't take all that much additional demand from independent travelers to soak up the remainder and begin to cause day-long sell-outs.

Thank you very much Carlos for the information about Gracia area and El Born. I tried to reply by private message again but I do not think it worked.

Hi Leslie, no worries I just saw your two message replies. To answer your question, Vila de Gracia is within walking distance to most of the Gaudi sites like Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, the Sagrada Familia, and Parc Guell. It even has it's own Gaudi building, the little known Casa Vicens, which was the first house Gaudi designed. You will probably need to take public transportation to get down to the Barrio Gotico and related sites from Gracia however.

On the other hand, El Born is within walking distance to the Barrio Gotico (right next door), to Las Ramblas, and the beach, but you will have to take public transportation to the Gaudi sites. El Born probably has the better location for the majority of the top tourist sites.

Leslie, I'd recommend the Bari Gotic area of Barcelona - close to everything and close to transportation. Near the Ramblas but not ON it. We loved this Air bnb, it had 5 mini terraces and although it says "private rooms" it really is a self contained apartment (within a dual entrance for your apt and the owners, who were great, and gave us total privacy):

I love this forum and cant thank everyone enough! It makes me more excited and I am learning all I can about Spain-
Joan-I saw your link but I wonder if you have the listing you mentioned for the great airbnb. There are so so many. Right now we are leaning towards the Gracia area. Again thanks all!

Leslie, I thought I posted it but when I click it says "no longer available". Without logging in I could not access so I guess it is no longer. So sorry to get your hopes up!
