Staying 3 nights- cant decide either Malaga or Nerja?

Thank you so much for the past great travel tips!

We cant decide whether to stay in Malaga or Nerja for 3 nights in March- we would be coming from Sevilla by train or bus. We normally rent cars but want to travel differently. Any recommendations appreciated!

I would also recommend staying in Málaga over Nerja. Are you planning to visit Granada? The Alhambra is a must see attraction. Two absolutely beautiful small towns in Andalucía that I heartily recommend are Baeza and Úbeda. Both of these Renaissance towns are World Heritage sites. They are just a few miles apart from each other and are extremely picturesque and great for wandering and exploring. The surrounding views of the olive groves in the Guadalquvir Valley are also impressive. You can take the train to the Linares Baeza train station. There is bus service from there to Baeza but it is not very frequent. We took a cab from the train station to Baeza where we stayed and it was not expensive at all. From Baeza to Úbeda we also took a cab but took the public bus back. Public transportation is very easy to use in Spain. It is reliable, comfortable, frequent and relatively cheap.

I love your replies! Thanks- We are definitely going to Granada after Malaga. In Sevilla we are staying in Triana neighborhood- I realize Malaga is very different but I wanted to see the Costa del Sol and Mediterranean. It has been highly recommended by others to go to Baeza and Ubea - Just curious if anyone has been to Tarifa? Thanks again..

I recommend Malaga as well. We spent 2 nights there in 2017 and really enjoyed it. I think it's an under-rated city. We enjoyed the coastal ambiance and the historic and beautiful city center. There is lots to do in Malaga; visit the cathedral; walk uphill through the Alcazaba with gorgeous views of the Mediterranean; the Picasso Musuem along with other museums. We loved strolling along the promenade by the port and having drinks while watching the sun set.

You can take the ALSA bus from Malaga to Granada. It's only a 1.5 hour bus ride. The bus is modern, comfortable, clean, and air-conditioned.
