When I checked our Delta reservation this week (I booked it in Dec.), I found out that the Malaga-to-Amsterdam portion of our flight (used miles) is now no longer valid - yeah, great customer service! : ( Now, we're going to head back to Madrid by train our last day to fly back home the following day.
We will be in Madrid for 3 nights during the beginning of our trip, staying near the Palacio Real. Should I just reserve a hotel for this last night (22nd night of trip) near the airport for convenience? Or do you recommend another location that's still good for arriving at the airport for a morning flight?

Our hotels, etc. are all booked for our trip, so no need to share ideas for major changes to our itinerary route.
