Stay in Cadiz or.......

I plan to rent a car in Seville and drive to Cadiz on October 10. I just want to walk around and see some sights and eat.

On October 11, I will travel to Ronda and spend the night there.

Should I spend the night in Cadiz on October 10 or should I travel to somewhere in between Cadiz and Ronda?

Someone suggested staying in Arcos de la Frontera for the evening. Is that a good idea or would it be fun to stay in Cadiz?

Any suggestions?

One of my favourite places to stop along this route is a place called Vejer de la Frontera. It's about two hours drive from Cadiz. The views from the castle are amazing and there are plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from. However, if you want to experience amazing seafood, head to Conil de la Frontera and try out some of the local fish restaurants. The other option is to check out Tarifa. This is a more popular beach town, famous for its windsurfing. It's very close to Morocco and the views of Africa are very special. It might actually be a livelier place than the others as it's become quite popular recently. You'll be there off season so remember that this whole area is quite quiet at this time of year.

They all sound like great places but they aren't really on the way towards Ronda.

Arcos would be a place to stop if you decide not to stay in Cadiz. However, a lot would depend on what time you arrive in Cadiz. To me, everything to see in Cadiz can be done in about 4 hours. If you arrived from Sevilla later in the day, you may not have time to see the city and walk around, let alone enjoy walking around in the evening. If you arrive early from Sevilla and find you did see everything, you could always take the ferry across the bay to either Rota or Puerto de Santa Maria.

thanks! I'm not sure about taking the ferry because we'll have a car. But both of those locations look nice on google photos :)

I just mentioned Rota and Puerto as those are two small towns you could walk around if you saw all of Cadiz, then take the ferry back to Cadiz. I used to live in Rota.

Oh thanks that's a great idea! Do you know what the ferry cost round trip for walk ons?

I just looked it up and it's €2.65 each way to Puerto and €5.05 each way to Rota. Google Rota Cadiz Ferry and there are a couple sites with the ferry schedule.

Arcos de la frontera is lovely as is Cadiz and the beach front there. We stayed in Cadiz and felt like a local. Also went to Jerez and spent 2 hours in the Hamman Arab Baths. Highly recommend it. everyone of these are easy drives and short distances. Have. Great trip!
