Probably a dumb question, but is St. Patrick's day celebrated in Madrid? I did a quick search but didn't really see anything. Just wondering if there are parades and if the city would be especially crowded, the way it may be in the US.
Thanks!

I've been there on March 17th and never noticed anything devoted to that holiday.
No this is not a thing in Spain. If you would like to celebrate perhaps there are parties at the Irish pubs one tends to find in the touristy parts of towns in Spain, I'm sure there are several in Madrid.
Thank you, I appreciate it! I don’t really care about St Patrick’s day. I just didn’t know if it was going to be more crowded or if roads would be closed off due to big crowds or parades, like what we see in Boston or NYC. Thanks!
There´s no logical reason to celebrate St Patrick´s day in Spain...it´s an Irish thing and it´s celebrated in the USA due to the high number of Irish immigrants there. But not here, as in a similar way we do celebrate many other festivities that are not celebrated in the USA or other countries.
The world is full of cultures that are quite different from one another. When you step outside your own cultural environment — your country or region — especially if you travel hundreds or thousands of kilometers away, it’s not common to find the same rituals and traditions you’re used to back home. Of course, there are some exceptions, like Christmas, which is celebrated in many parts of the world (though not everywhere). And naturally, if you visit the place where a tradition originated — for example, Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day — you’ll find it celebrates there.
So in Spain, traditions like St. Patrick’s Day, the Fourth of July, or Thanksgiving — which are specific to American or anglosaxon culture — aren’t celebrated, of course.
I celebrated in an Irish dive bar in Hanoi so I'm 100% sure you'll be able to get your Guinness on in Madrid. But No, I wouldn't expect parades.
