Spain with kids

We have decided to take our kids to Spain for their February break. We will be flying into Barcelona and are looking into other places that would be good to go either for a few days or day trips. The kids are 9 and 6, we know it isnt beach weather, we would like to start educational vacations so a mix of adventure and education/history is what we are hoping for.

Ok thanks for the response, with 8 nights I would say you can divide your time between Barcelona and 1 other city, here is some options I would recommend:

-Option 1 - "El Clásico"
Fly in to Barcelona
Barcelona (4 nights)
AVE to Madrid
Madrid (3 nights)
AVE back to Barcelona
Barcelona (1 night)
Fly out of Barcelona

or

-Option 2- "Mediterranean Highlights"
Fly in to Barcelona
Barcelona (4 nights)
Train to Valencia
Valencia (3 nights)
Train back to Barcelona
Barcelona (1 night)
Fly out of Barcelona
