We are traveling in Spain in April. From Barcelona we are debating on taking the 8:30 direct train or flying to Granada. Understand the train is longer but were wondering if it was worth it for the scenery?
I haven't covered that entire trip by train recently enough to give complete advice, but I can tell you that there is a lot of comparatively dull scenery in central Spain, around Madrid. As I have mentioned before, if you see something sticking up on the horizon and you're in Italy, it will probably turn out to be a hill town. If you're in central Spain, it is likely to be something like a grain elevator.
Part of the Madrid-Granada leg is still by bus, I think. That's not a reason to avoid doing the trip on the ground (the transfer sounds very easy), but it means part of the trip is via highway.
The train in Spain is not of scenic fame.
An exception remains to crane at the grain.
The plane keeps you sane as acraven did explain.
Maintain this frame, though lame and a pain.
Train in Spain is easy and fast, specially when you use AVE (High Speed Train, in English)
I don´t know if you must to travel Barcelona/Madrid/Granada by AVE pherphas exist a shortcut
Good Travel...
We're taking a Vueling plane in March. Hopefully it will go smoothly. I read all about the different classes before I booked our tickets. The website was reasonably easy to use.
I got the tickets early enough so they were cheaper than the train plus I could book them earlier than the train tickets. I also didn't see the direct train, just ones with 3 connections or a direct bus (ALSA).
Trainline.eu doesn't make clear that there is a bus transfer into Granada (70 - 80 minute ride) unless the track construction is finished.
Thank you for all your suggestions!
