Spain Rental Car

Hello,

Does anybody know which rental agencies in Spain have the giant sticker on the rear window with the agencies logo?

After reading how tourists in rentals are targeted (specifically with the flat tire scam) I would prefer to minimize that risk. I will be picking up a car at the Madrid airport and driving to Basque region. Since I will be renting with Auto Europe, I can choose to rent with Europcar, Avis, or Hertz.

Thank you!

Honestly, this is not something I would put very high on my list of things to worry about.

We were in Crete back in October, and at least half the cars on the road seemed to have the lettered name and phone number of the rental agency spread across the back window. Spain with Hertz was years and years ago, and with Europcar more recently than that, and I don’t recall any markings that would make them stand out as “rentals.”

What’s glaring is a diesel car with the big, bold word “DIESEL” underneath the fuel filler door, on diesel rental cars. Understandable, as the company wants to minimize the likelihood that unleaded gas would be put in by mistake. But in Spain, it’s called “Gas-oil.”

We didn’t have problems either trip, and made sure the car was locked, and no bags or other items were visible in the car when it was parked.

Haven’t seen a company sticker on any Avis rental since at least 2000, in any country I’ve rented in. I didn’t think any company had a sticker on their cars anymore to eliminate the whole targeting thing. To answer your question, I haven’t seen any large company logos on rear windows.

I thought the same thing - until I went to the Canadian Rockies in 2013. Our car from Enterprise (rented at Calgary airport) didn't have any company logos on it, but the ones from Hertz and Budget sure did!
