Spain my way

We are booked for a Spain my way tour. Last year we did Best of Switzerland full tour. Wondering how anyone feels My Way vs full tour.

My favorite part of the many full tours I have taken is being with a knowledgeable local guide during the day, so My Way tours don't interest me. Not sure many people have done both.

I am signed up for a my way tour later this year. It will be my first RS tour. The my way tours appeal to me because I am not a people person and the thought of many group activities and meals does not appeal to me. I prefer to spend my time as I like. And by myself. :-)

Having the transportation and hotels taken care of is a big plus and will give me a break from my usual travel planning.

I haven’t ruled out a full guided tour in the future, it’s just not something I’m interested in right now.

I have done both RS options more than once, including Spain My Way. I agree with Carrie- the group experience (dinners and etc) isn't something I enjoy. With MyWay the "infrastructure" is provided, freeing me to do my own research beforehand (which I like to do, some do not( and own plans for that day's stop.
I wish more MyWay options were offered, I would sign up for sure! Just make sure to carefully read the admissions tickets you need to reserve ahead of time, etc.
It was a wonderful tour!

We have done both styles, with My Way Spain in 2024. It works for us to book a “My Way” back-to-back with a fully guided tour because we don’t have the stamina to do 2 fully-guided tours. The “My Way Spain” was our second “My Way” tour and it was exceptionally good. The group bonded with help from the tour manager, who arranged a few optional opportunities, and the group was congenial. The age range was wide, from 9 to 83. We booked what we wanted to see, when we wanted to see it. Because you have to plan your own itinerary, everyone had done their research and were happy to share tips. The itinerary was similar to one we had done with Odyssey’s Unlimited, but this allowed us to revisit places in more depth. Previously, we had been to the Alhambra as a “stop” rather than a “stay” and being first up in the morning made for a completely different experience - the gardens were quiet, we weren’t having to peer around other people in a group to see things and we could linger whenever we wanted.

My one regret was not booking the cathedral in Seville. We were there on a weekend and it was sold out. I waited until 3 days before to book and it was too late. We went in May and I’m not sure if they were doing First Communions or what, but we were out of luck.

We will continue to do the fully guided tours as long as mobility allows us, but wish more “My Way” tours were offered. We’re doing the My Way France this year before the Best of Switzerland.
