Hello - My wife and I are planning a visit to Spain for next April or May. Our current plans have us flying into Madrid and departing from Barcelona, though we have not yet bought our tickets. We like to see major sites (historical), enjoy museums and appreciate long walks, be it in a city or rural setting. We can speak Spanish. Our plan is to use trains to travel inside Spain, though (as per below) we are considering whether a flight from Granada to Barcelona would make sense. Our notional schedule (two options) is below and we were wondering if it makes sense or is too crowded and we should drop a portion of the trip. Any advice would be appreciated.
Day 1: Overnight flight to Madrid
Day 2: Morning arrival in Madrid, drop bags in hotel and light tourism
Day 3: Madrid
Day 4: Madrid (probably a day to visit museums)
Day 5: Toledo Day Trip
Day 6: Madrid
Day 7: Madrid to Seville train, 2 hours 43 minutes direct
Day 8: Seville
Day 9: Seville
Day 10: Seville to Granada train, 2 hours, 30 minutes direct
Day 11: Granada (The Alhambra)
Day 12: Granada to Cordoba train
Day 13: Cordoba
Day 14: Cordoba to Barcelona train, 4 hours 43 minutes direct
Day 15: Barcelona
Day 16: Barcelona
Day 17: Flight back
Among options we are considering is staying an extra day in Seville and using that for a day trip to Cordoba and flying to Barcelona from Granada. That option would look like this:
Day 7: Madrid to Seville train, 2 hours 43 minutes direct
Day 8: Seville
Day 9: Seville
Day 10: Seville to Cordoba and back (day trip)
Day 11: Seville to Granada train, 2 hours and 30 minutes direct
Day 12: Granada (The Alhambra)
Day 13: Granada to Barcelona flight
Day 14: Barcelona
Day 15: Barcelona
Day 16: Barcelona
Day 17: Flight back
