My husband and I are considering returning to Spain this December/January for a few weeks to visit some of the places we missed in 2022. I'm thinking about basing out of Malaga and Cadiz (We visited Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Ronda in 2022). My question is whether this would be a good time of year to do the Route of the White Hill Towns. Do businesses and sites shut down/limit hours, or is it pretty much business as usual that time of year?
You should rent car for the route of the white hill towns that time of year.
Just like here don't expect to find much open on Xmas day or New Years Day.
But just stay up late and ring the New Year in club Spanish style. We did that in Seville in 2018 and it was a lot of fun.
New Years day we went to Cadiz and there was just one restaurant open aside from those in hotels.
But we mellowed out on the beach there drinking wine watching the sunset over the Atlantic ocean.
Unplanned we arrived in Malaga January 6 on Three Kings Day, or El Día de los Reyes Magos and watched the parade floats
That area has a nice relaxed vibe that time of year and the weather is sunny a little chilly at night that's all.
We were in the white hill towns in November. There weren't many tourists and some restaurants were closed. We still enjoyed walking around them. We walked around Arcos, Zahara, Grazelema, Sentinel and Ronda. Ronda was fairly busy.
Thank you for the input, it is helpful. I think we will save the hill towns for another time.
