Spain Barcelona trip.

Alright guys,
I think I am lost here.
I am going to London this year second time; but Instead of only staying London I want to explore other parts of the Europe.
I started first thinking about Italy\Rome-Venice, and it did not work somehow. Then thought about Spain golden triangle of Andalucía region. I guess it won't work either.

Now- Second thoughts are going to Barcelona, Hows that work?
What else I explore beside the Barecelona for 5 days and 6 nights.
Huh......... I am tired.
Thank you!!

From Barcelona it's easy to visit Girona or a small coastal town like Tossa de Mar ( loved it ) for a night or two . We took a bus to Tossa , took about an hour and half , I believe there are trains to Girona .

We were set to spend 4 days in Barcelona and 3 in Tossa . When we arrived in Tossa we cancelled a night in Barcelona and gave it to Tossa ! We were " big citied" out and wanted more diwntime( we were in an extended European visit )

We might be able to give you better advice if you could briefly share why the Italy and Spain's Andalucía region options didn't work for you - transportation issues, cost, ??

For Italy, The time is short, and transportation will be the issue as we all do not know to speak Italian we may lost.
Andalucía region- I believe the transportation will be the big issue as time too short to explore the entire Madrid - Granada.

Okay, please tell me which part of the Europe would work.
We like beech, meusems, beautiful scenarist etc.
Venice was option in my list- but to very limited time- I am afraid we will be missing one of those trains\flight with lack of knowledge to communicate around.

I was looking top 10 places to visit Europe.
Norway, Neitherland looks good, Ibiza, Barcelona, looks pretty too.

Thank you!

If you're going to Barcelona it is feasible to go to Costa Brava for a day or two. You could go thru Girona as others have posted and then on to Costa Brava. Stunning scenery, beautiful beaches.

Honestly, I believe you should first investigate a bit more to realise what each one of those places you mention, seemingly at random, have to offer as well as what does it involve getting to each one (distances, time, means, cost, etc.) Europe contains 50 different COUNTRIES, not counties, each one with its own characteristics (language, customs, way of life and way of doing things, even currency -not everything is Euro-, etc) so it has nothing to do like say visiting different states in the US, it's not as straightforward. This exercise will no doubt help you realise what's viable and what's not within your circumstances.

If you are set with visiting Barcelona and its region, Catalonia, start by investigating these webs for ideas and to draft your itinerary: http://www.barcelonaturisme.com/ | http://www.infocatalonia.eu | http://www.timeout.com/barcelona | http://lameva.barcelona.cat/en | http://www.catalunya.com/?language=en

Thank you!
You are 100% about the each countries charactistics and their values. It is not US.

I am not seeing so much in Madrid but surrounded cities.
Considering that I Have 10 yr old with me I am not interesting so much night life.

I am thinking Barcelona to Madrid ( see Toledo, Salamanca)
Can you please suggest what top most thing should I see in Madrid?

Then I will make my itinerary.

Thank you!

Barcelona has a beach and easy train access to coastal towns. Madrid has numerous old towns for day trips. Both have easy direct flights from London on numerous European cheap airlines.
Perhaps you have too many choices. We can't pick for you. If overwhelmed, put some city names into a jar, pick one and go ahead with that plan. You really can't go wrong with any choice. All cities mentioned give you plenty to see in 5-6 days with some day trips out of the city.
However, I don't think you mentioned time of year you are traveling. Some of these places are very hot in the summer.
