Spain AVE rail

FYI
Today I was able to buy tickets from Seville to Madrid on November 8 (21E each). Usually they are only released 90 days in advance.

Now that there are four high-speed train companies (IRYO, Avlo, Ouigo Espana and Renfe) competing for passengers in Spain, tickets are being released for sale up to 9 months in advance. Some tickets between Madrid and Barcelona are going for less than €15 instead of the last- minute walk-up fare of €150 Renfe got when it had no competitors.

Good to know. We'll be traveling in Spain May-Jun 2023 and plan a one way trip (with no other train travel) from Seville to Madrid. Now researching the ticket buying process for the high speed train. Understand there are now 3 high speed options. Should I wait until we arrive in Spain before booking? Use the Renfe or Trainline (Iryo) websites? Go to a station? Advice regarding the smoothest way to get tickets appreciated.

Buy in advance, or the tickets will be very expensive. Use the website of the company that actually runs the trains. From what I've heard Iryo is a very good option, and their website is much easier to use than Renfe's. www.iryo.eu
