Spain and Portugal in June, 2017 Three weeks with teenagers

Hello All!

Would LOVE some feedback: New York to Bilbao, bus to San Sebastian, stay in San Sebastian couple days, train to Madrid and take several day trips from our Madrid base (Segovia, Toledo, Avila and Salamanca) , fly into Porto Portugal, couple days there, (day trip to Coimbra and Braga), train to Lisbon, couple days and home. Thoughts?? Seems easiest - have two teenage boys so moving less is best. Would really appreciate any insights. Mostly VRBO so we can eat in, cheaper - but would again LOVE any feedback!!! You helped with our last trip to Italy and it was so incredibly fantastic! Thank you!

Julie,

Have you considered exploring Spain for the entire 3 weeks?

I would not travel to Portugal to only spend a "couple of days" in Porto or Lisbon.

Your teens may enjoy the coastal cities more than the inland ones, especially in the summer,

Keep in mind that day trips can be very tiring, I'd much rather spend a few nights in each desired destination, than take a day trip to said destination.

You may consider traveling to Córdoba, Sevilla & Granada. Just make sure you book a hotel with A/C,
Some hotels also have pools on their terraces... A nice way to get refreshed from the heat of the day.

Happy planning!
