we are flying into Madrid at 6:30 am and have connection at 7:25am to Seville. How close will this be? plus is it even possible to clear customs in that short of time.? we are flying Iberia airlines if that makes a difference, thank you .

The company Iberia says you will make the connection otherwise they would not sell you that ticket; if you don't believe them try to change and to the ones with the longer layovers. The 7:25 is the first flight to Seville they operate and then they have 6 more after that. But they may charge you a change fee to do that unfortunately if you already paid for it.

You might call and ask Iberia. You may just transfer in Madrid and go through immigration and customs in Seville. Flights can back up, and there can be lines at immigration. If you have nothing to declare, customs usually just means walking through the “nothing to declare” exit, with no delay, although you have to wait for any checked baggage to do that, if you have any. And of course, your plane into Madrid might be late. If you are on a single ticket with connections, if you miss one, the airline should just put you on the next available flight to Seville.

Thank you...i"ll stick with the current flight. If I miss it, I agree they will have to accommodate me, thanks to all for your replies.

Are you on a single ticket with Iberia? If you are, you do not go through "customs" in Madrid, but in Seville (your checked bags will arrive in a separate section of the airport). I was worried, as when I went to this section there was a sign that I would not be allowed back into the main airport; it all worked out fine, as my bags were indeed there. Customs in Europe is just a matter of walking through the Green Channel Nothing To Declare line; unless you're stopped for additional screening (possible but rare), it's very fast.

However, immigration (passport control) can take time, and how long cannot be predicted. Assuming you're coming from the US, you do this at your first Schengen airport, which in this case is Madrid.

If you're flying Iberia from the US, In Madrid you will arrive at terminal 4S; you will then take the underground train to terminal 4. Then you go through immigration, then go through security to get to your next flight. Be prepared for TONS of walking; both T4 and T4S are huge, and the flights from the US and to Seville seem to use the extreme ends of the terminals (at least they did in 2006 when I made this exact connection). You will see signs everywhere estimating your walking time to various other parts of the airport; these signs are accurate, assuming you keep moving and don't make any stops (like for food or a bathroom).

There are multiple flights from Madrid to Seville each day, so as long as you're all on one ticket, they'll put you on the next available flight if you are delayed.
