Traveling to Madrid May 13 and returning from Barcelona May 26 so 13 nights. Looking for advice on places to visit in between and how long to stay at each. Will not be renting a car. Skipping the Andalucia region as well due to time constraints. Husband would like to go to a Real Madrid/Atletico Madrid/Barcelona or Valencia match if we can do it. There are some that line up with when we will be there. Thanks!

May 13 - Arriving in Madrid
May 14 - (Explore) Madrid
May 15 - Madrid - Day trip to Toledo by train
May 16 - Madrid (Explore Madrid more and attend a soccer match)
May 17 - In the morning High-speed train from Madrid to Valencia
May 18 - (Explore) Valencia
May 19 - Valencia (Explore Valencia more and perhaps attend another soccer match)
May 20 -Valencia (Continue to explore Valencia)
May 21 - High-speed train from Valencia to Barcelona
May 22 - Barcelona (Explore the city)
May 23 - Barcelona - Day trip to Zaragoza by train
May 24 -Barcelona - Explore the city further and attend a soccer match
May 25 - Barcelona - Tour Casa Mila, Casa Batlo, Park Gueil, Sagrada Familia
May 26 - Barcelona - Fly Home

You can't go wrong with the suggestions in Rick Steves' guide. Another guide I like is the Rough Guide. If you want a third guidebook try the Lonely Planet guide. Madrid had 3 big art museums. I liked the Thyssen Bornemisza better than the Prado because it had more old landscape paintings; my judgment is highly subjective. I didn't make time for the 3rd place. But I saw the much smaller but still worthwhile Joaquim Sorolla museum. I didn't make time for Valencia or Barcelona. If I go to Spain again maybe I will include those 2 cities.
