Looking at making a loop by train (I know car could possible be better, but we are choosing train), this summer from Colmar through the southern half of France, looping down to Barcelona, then up the French Riviera. Travel time unlimited. What should we see that is accessible by train??
Please re-post this in the France forum so the folks who spend a lot of time in France are sure to see it.
I looked at places that might be of interest, that are on a somewhat logical train journey through that region. Depending on how much moving around you want to do, how many different places you want to visit, and how many days for the journey, I might route myself from Colmar to Besancon, to Dijon, to Lyon, to Arles, to Avignon, to Nimes, and then from there to Barcelona. That would give you a good taste of a few different regions. Longest of the train rides would be from Colmar to Besancon and from Nimes to Barcelona - both about 3-1/2 hrs. The other train rides are all less than 2 hrs.
Thank you, can't wait to research these places 😊
