solo trip to italy and spain

Hello Everyone,

Greetings from Pakistan.

I am travelling on a solo trip from 16.08.2016 till 29.08.2016. I have already planned italy where i am spending 04 nights in amalfi, 02 nights in rome and 02 nights venice.

I have these question for the Spain trip for which I am staying 03 nights in barcelona and 01 night in madrid.

1) I will depart from venice via flight. Kindly tell me whether to land in barcelona or madrid and then travel to other city and then fly out to my country from their.

2) Cheap and easy way to commute from madrid or barcelona airport to city centre ?

3) I am not a big fan of art and history and from what i have heard and read I have decided 01 night for madrid and 03 nights for Barcelona.... is this ok or should i change it to 02 nights each ?

Also I will not be carrying a huge luggage with me.
Would be greatful for your help,

Regards,
Saad

Which city to visit first may partly be decided by the airfares. But if you only intend to spend one night in Madrid, I think you get more out of it by flying there first. Then, moving to Barcelona by train, you have a choice of hourly departures, so you can get at least 24 hours in Madrid. If you were flying out of Madrid, you might have an early departure and not even be there for half a day.

Both cities have multiple options for airport connections. See http://www.aerobusbcn.com/ for Barcelona airport and the yellow Expres Aeropuerto bus for Madrid to the P. Atocha train station.

Art and history remain 2 of the biggest reasons for travel to Europe, especially Italy and Spain. That aside, I would drop Madrid and add that night to Rome. Barcelona has both train and bus from the airport to city centre.

Given the fact that you only have 12 nights on your trip, I'd recommend staying in Italy for the entire time.
By doing this, you won't be as rushed, & you can add another destination, such as Florence.

I agree with David regarding adding 1-2 night to Rome.

Keep in mind that every time you relocate, from one location to the next, you will lose at least half of that travel day.

Enjoy your trip!

EDIT:
I just read your post on the Italy forum &
my suggestion to spend your entire time in Italy still stands.
As much as I love Spain, I think Barcelona deserves more than 2 full days (3 nights) to explore & enjoy.

Perhaps you can plan a trip to Spain in the future! ;-)
