“Snapshot” City books vs. Spain book?

Considering which books to buy for my trip to Spain. I will be in southern Spain for a week, so thought of getting the “Snapshot: Snapshot: Sevilla, Granada & Southern Spain” book. Then, to Madrid for 4 days, so I thought of getting the “Snapshot: Madrid & Toledo” book. These do cover all the cities I am planning to visit.

I thought of getting these for their portability in each location, as they are smaller and lighter. Are there any other advantages for getting these instead of the larger all inclusive Spain book? I have taken the whole country books on other trips, and found the binding did not hold up when I was using it just in a few places, plus they were too big to tuck in a pocket.

Is the content for the Snapshot books for each city, the same as is covered for these cities in the all-Spain book? If the Spain book covers more of each city, I might get that instead, even if it is bulky. Thanks!

I have an older version of the Spain book and the two Snapshots you describe. I am only taking the snapshot. There's no additional data in the big book that's not in the snapshots.

The Snapshot books are chapters pulled directly from the Spain book, so for the cities covered, they do have all the information. What they don't have are the color maps and some general Spain info in the appendix. You can buy maps separately, or just pick up freebies from hotels and tourist offices as you travel.

When I carry the big book, I do cut apart the chapters, to lighten the load on a daily basis. That's not very elegant, so the Guidebook page binder was invented, but I have not tried it.

Thanks to you both! I believe then that I will just buy the snapshot books.

Though, the binder idea is intriguing. Laura, how do you remove the pages from your big book without them ripping?

I took the big Spain book and only carried the current day's chapter -- fold the book back at the chapter beginning then fold it back at the chapter end and pull out the entire section. Folded in half, this fit easily into a purse.
