Small towns with two kids in Andalusia area

We will be leaving Granda on 3/28 and plan to be in Seville on 4/1 or 4/2. We will have a car. I want to spend a night or two in Ronda as would like to be there after everyone leaves but could be convinced otherwise especially somewhere rural and off the beaten track. Where else is most recommended to make a base? We don't want to stay for less than one night anywhere as we are slow travelers. Shall we try to hit the the coast? Probably a bit cold then. We have two kids that are great hikers but unfortunately our son is too young for the Caminito del Rey so we would like to do some other hikes. He can nicely manage 10-15k but not more in a day.
Recommendations are much appreciated!

This won't work if you are wedded to Ronda, but if not I'd suggest Baeza (or Ubeda), to stop for all three nights. Both are stunning towns and Unesco listed. From either of these you can visit the other plus the white town of Cazorla, which is just as attractive as Ronda. And drive to walks in Parque Natural Sierras de Cazorla. This is a well-known walking area with routes to suit you. I'm sure your guide book includes some of these routes, given how well-known the park is, but if helpful I can suggest others too.

Kathleen,

Have you booked your Alhambra Tickets yet?

If not, make sure you do so ASAP!

When I checked for another poster yesterday, there are only ‘Dobla de Oro General’ tickets left for March.

You don’t mention the age of your children but you’ll need to book their tickets too, even if they’re free (under age 12)

Enjoy your trip!

Yes thanks for the advice and we have already booked Alhambra tickets. This is why we started in Granada as I knew that needed to be arranged soon. Kathleen

In the white village area, we stayed in Grazelema. It's in the mountains and the Grazelema National Park with lots of hikes surrounds it. From there you can make a day trips to Zahara, Ronda, Sentenil. We stayed at a lovely and reasonably priced BnB Le Mejorana. They have a pool. Depending on what you're used to and the weather while you are there, I would think there would be a possibility of swimming. A day in Ronda was enough for us. It's pretty but also very busy. Check to see if the walk to the base of the canyon is even open. It was closed when we were there because of heavy rains.
