sims card for Spain mailed to US

Hello- Has anyone purchased their Sims cared for Spain in the last few years? I think I would like it sent to my Home in Texas.
Where did you buy a SIMS card for Spain ?
How was reception in the small towns?
We are in process of unlocking our phones.

Bought one in Girona and another in Salamanca (different trip). Walked right into the Orange store and they set me up. Very easy walked out in 10 minutes. I needed my passport both times. Make SURE your phone is unlocked!

being pedantic alert - Sims is the game, SIM is the bit you change in your phone. Subscriber Identity Module so even calling it a chip or card is superfluous. Just call it a SIM.

Changing it is very easy, be sure you carry a paperclip or the little tool which came with the phone to pop out the carrier. An opened paperclip is really just as easy and much easier to replace.

I think that you will find sending it to Texas won't necessarily save you much time or money...

I tend to buy my SIM cards straight from the phone company store upon my arrival in the country. When I was in Madrid in November the Vodafone store was closed for some reason and the Movistar store was out of pre-paid SIMs. I ended up buying mine in El Corte Ingles, the ubiquitous Spanish department store.

Reception in small towns no problem.

My question exactly! Thanks for asking this.
May I add on...I will be in Spain for 3 weeks. What is the cost of the SIM? Can I use one for Madrid/Barcelona/Seville+?
I plan to rely on it for online maps, so data use will be moderate to heavy.
My US phone is unlocked.

Lee-

My last SIM from Vodafone Spain was 20 euro for 20 gig in 28 days—way more than I really needed. It included 600 minutes of calling and no text message sending. Fine, because everyone in Europe uses WhatsApp now. I'd researched the offering from Movistar and the difference was negligible.

One note on using maps/navigation: I always download the google map data for wherever I'm going. It's faster when using it, and uses less mobile data. (Open google maps and search 'Madrid'. Below you should see buttons for 'directions', 'save', 'label'... swipe until you see the button for "download'.) You can load multiple cities/destinations at a time.
