Have anyone use one of these before? I think we will use the plan for using google map and sometime need to call or text message only. Seems the most popular one is from Orange. Wondering the Smart Silver which is including Data5GB, CallsUnlimited, SMSUnlimited, Credit validity30 days is good enough for us.

I have no experience with that particular vendor. But I find this website informative for examining the options in any one country. The big picture details are usually accurate but sometimes the pricing details are stale.

You do need an unlocked phone and will probably temporarily lose the use of your home number.

I haven’t been to Spain yet but when in Central Europe, I used 3 SIM card. It worked great in the UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. I will be getting it again for my upcoming trip to Spain. I bought it for 30 USD on Amazon.

I purchased a Vodafone sim card with 8GB of data in Spain and I was able to use it when we traveled to Italy and France as well. I didn't consume all the data as there was wifi in the hotel. I think that 5GB is enough for google maps.

I just got back from 3 weeks in Spain. I bought an Orange sim card in Girona and it worked just fine. Surprisingly good reception even in some rather remote areas in the Pyrenees.
